This is a super Tuscan that is 75% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The bottling used to carry the name Monte Antico but, at least in 2019, that is no longer on the label. It is a project started by importer Neil Empson and Italian oenologist, Franco Bernabei. Purple in color with thin ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with dust, cherries, black cherries, slight chocolate and tea leaves. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, flavors of cherries and black cherries with some underlying forest floor. Nice finish. This drinks nicely on its own but is better with food. It went great with "Beggar's Purse" pasta with truffles. Drink over the next ten to twelve years.
