This is a blend of 85% tempranillo and 15% graciano, mazuelo y garnacha from Spain.  The Imperial lineup is their top wines for each designation and it is only produced in selected years.  Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is classic with dust, cherries, slight black cherries, balsamic and a bit of mint.  Medium to full bodied.  Firm tannins.  Lively balance.  On the palate flavors of black cherries, cherries, slight forest floor and char.  Long finish.  Right now this is very good if young and tight.  Give it some good cellaring and the score should go up a few points.  It drinks well on its own but will be better with food.  Lamb stew would be classic but it would be great also with a Butternut Squash soup.  Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.
