Probably my favorite producer in Rioja.  Very traditional.  While the Gran Reserva pricing has gotten prohibitive, the Reservas, while not cheap, provide a high quality for the money.   It is a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha and 10% Mazuelo and Graciano.  Medium ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is deep and complex with black cherries, tobacco, dust, roast herbs, slight grilled meat and slight dill.  Medium to full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Great energy and balance.  On the palate, this has some depth and complexity which will likely increase as it ages.  Flavors of black cherries, cherries, earthiness and char.  Long finish.  This is great on its own but better with food.  It would work well a Spanish Chicken and Rice dish.  Drink over the next ten to fifteen yearts.
