Tasted at the winery. Quintarelli's Valpolicellas are better than most Amarones (and priced accordingly). This is a blend of 55% Corvina and Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and 15% Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina and Sangiovese. Ruby in color, clear and bright. THe nose has cherries, cinnamon stick, plums, leather and spice. Medium to full bodied. Well balanced. Light tannins. Moderate acidity. On the palate, there is some complexity and plenty of depth. Flavors of cherries, slight sour cherries, slight black pepper, and hint of earthiness. Long finish. This is nice on its own but will be better with food. Serious meat dishes would work well such as Venison but this will work well with Pasta with tomato based sauces, too. Drink over the next five to ten years.
