Tasted at the winery. This was the last wine tasted in the lineup. This is not made in every vintage and was a real treat to try. It is a dessert wine made from Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina and Sangiovese grapes that have been air dried. Ruby in color with purple swirls. The nose has black cherries, some dried red apples, candied cherries and plums. Full bodied. Medium to firm tannins. Nice acidity. On the palate, this is slightly sweet (not as much as expected from the nose). Flavors of sweet black cherries, slight prune notes and a touch of citrus. Some char on the long finish. This is a delicious wine that will work well with many desserts but keep the sweetness level down. It would be great with a flourless chocolate tort. This wine should last another thirty or fourty years.
