2016 is such a great vintage for Chianti's so there was a lot of hope for this. It is solid but there are a lot of better values in the market. Ruby in color. The nose has cherries and slight hay. On the palate, this is light to medium bodied. Strong acidity. Some cherry fruit. Simple. It requires food and worked fine with some pasta. It started to show some volatile acidity after a few hours. Drink now.
Perhaps the top Chianti available, this wine is always good especially from such a great vintage as 2016. Garnet in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has cherries, hay, anise and slight forest floor. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, bold cherries, slight sour cherries, char and slight tea leaves. Great acidity. Long finish. This is drinking well but still on the young side. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years. Nice on its own but really begs for food. Pasta with bolognaise sauce is perfect.
This is a 100% Sangiovese wine that utilizes certified organic grapes. And, of course, 2016 is an excellent vintage for Chianti. This wine is superb. The cork was quite tight and took some effort to extract. The wine is deep garnet in color, purple at the core. Mostly opaque and dark. On the nose this has big black cherry fruit, slight black licorice and just of touch of earl grey tea. On the palate, this has a lush texture. Plenty of black cherry fruit with cherries. This is one of my favorite Chianti's. Normally, I let the Rancia's rest a bit while I drink the "lesser" Felsina wines. But, I had been hearing such great things about this wine, that I wanted to try one young. Good move. While this should improve, this was wonderful. One of the top Chianti's I have ever had. And, while this is not inexpensive for Chianti, it is for a wine of this quality. Deep ruby in color, a bit lighter at the rim. The nose has cherries, black cherries, some anise, and some tea leaves.
