Light golden in color. The nose has minerals, oranges, slight apricot. On the palate, this has a really interesting texture. Dry but some heaviness to it. Minerals and orange peel. Enough if not great acidity, it drinks better with some food. Actually would work with a wide range of foods. Good finish. Well priced at around $25. Certainly one of the better and more interesting expressions of California Chenin Blanc.
I am a big fan of the Chenin Blanc grape and Sandlands makes some of the best in California! They have a low alcohol but at the same time, these are not wispy or lacking in fruit. Light bronze/gold in color. The nose is great with lemons, wax, slight orange peel and minerals. On the palate, this is lean but solid. Nice acidity. A bit of lemon, over a nice steely minerality. Nice finish. Worked great on its own but will work with lighter foods and even a burger. Probably should last for 5 to 8 more years, but perhaps even longer. Sandlands is one of the best sources for Chenin Blanc in the United States. They make a lot of other interesting wines but these might be the best. And, their wines are all great values. These come from vines planted back in the 1970's. Golden in color. A lovely nose of honey, almond milk and Calvados. On the palate, it is much the same but less alcohol; let's say pears not Calvados. Also an underlying minerality. OK acidity. Nice finish. This will work with Salads, fish, or sushi very well. Chenin Blanc ages very well and while I have not had this old, it seems likely that this
Sandlands is one of the premier producers of Chenin Blanc in California. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has red apples, minerality and slight orange citrus. Medium bodied. Good acidity. Nice mouthfeel. On the palate, this is crisp and mineral driven with some apples. Long finish. Very food friendly. This will work well with pork chops. Drink over the next seven to ten years.
One of my favorite Chenin Blanc's from California. Light golden in the glass. The nose is mostly about minerality but there is some honey, and slight orange peel to it as well. On the palate, this is dry but with a viscous texture. A nice backbone of acidity. Minerals with some underlying dried oranges. Long finish. One get's the feeling this could last for a long time, but to be safe, it probably should be consumed in the next five to seven years. It will go well with Asian foods.
Sandlands makes some of the best Chenin Blanc in the US. Now, that might be faint praise for some, but theirs stands up to anyone's in the world too. Light silvery/gold in color with a touch of copper. The nose is very minerally with some orange peel. Medium bodied with a slightly oily texture. The minerality really comes thru to the palate, but there is also some tangerine notes and a hint or herbs. Good balance. Refreshing. Nice finish. This is drinking great now, but Chenin can age well. This won't make really old bones, but another seven to ten years is not out of the question
