2015 Kirkland Signature Zinfandel Old Vine

This is the Costco home brand. My first time trying this and it was served to a group of people blind. Everyone enjoyed this and for $17, there is some real value here. Purple in color. The nose has black cherries, bramble and spice. On the palate, this is middle of the road in style. A nice backbone of acidity should make it friendly with a wide variety of foods. Good finish. Is this amazing? No. But it is quite solid and as good as quite a few California Zins costing twice as much.

This is a nice, inexpensive, middle of the road in style, Lodi zinfandel. Purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, raspberries, slight bramble and spice. Medium bodied. On the palate, nice black cherry fruit. Easy drinking. Drinks well on its own and will work great with a burger off the grill. Drink over the next couple of years.

This is one of the consistently better Zinfandels from Lodi. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. Mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries and coffee along with a bit of an herbal streak. Full bodied. On the palate this has light tannins. Nice black cherry fruit. Maybe a bit of dates. A bit of late heat on the finish. This drinks well on its own and will work well with a steak or a burger off the grill. Drink over the next five to seven years.

The winemaker's notes indicate that "the finished blend is 85% Zinfandel with 7% Carignan, 4% Cinsault and bits and bobs of Grand Noir, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet and other field-blended varieties." Overall, this is pretty consistent with prior years. Purple/garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, raspberries, char and slight bramble. Medium bodied. Good acidity. On the palate, this is middle ground between claret and bombastic styled Zin. Plenty of black cherry fruit with good balance, slight tannins and some char. Nice finish. This is a great c
