2015 Eral Bravo Malbec Urano, Argentina, Lujan de Cayo, Wine Review

This is a relatively inexpensive and widely distributed Malbec that show up on a lot of wine lists. I prefer their Syrah but the Malbec is functional and not a bad choice when looking to not spend a lot of money. Purple in color. The nose is dusty with some plums and a bit of sweet alcohol. On the palate, the plums come thru with some black cherry notes. It is a touch warm. Nice finish. Works well with pastas, meat and pizza. These drink well for about five years from vintage.

This is an organically grown, relatively inexpensive Malbec from Argentina. Purple/ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries and baking spices. With air, some black cherries. On the palate, nice black cherry fruit, some plums and a bit of char. Medium tannins. Good acidity. This is a dry wine with just a perception of ripeness/sweetness. Good finish. This will be a popular wine to serve at cookouts with burgers off the grill. Drink over the next three to five years.

This was my favorite of the Virgen lineup of wines recently tasted and seemed a step up from the 2020 Organic Malbec. Purple in color with ruby swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has sweet black cherries, some plums, some currants and a slight earthy note. Nice lush mouthfeel. Firm tannins. Great balance and energy. On the palate, black cherries and plums with some depth. Long finish. Tremendous value. It drinks great on its own and will work well with meats and fowl off the grill (and, veggies too). Drink over the next three to five years.

This comes in a 3 liter box. The beauty of the box is that the wine is deprived of oxygen enabling the consumer to drink it over a long period of time. This box was sampled initially in June, repeatedly thru the summer, and again in October. There was no noticeable degradation. This is the type of wine made for the person who wants an occasional glass of wine (or a wine to be used in cooking too) that is still good. I sampled the Cab and this one and preferred the Malbec.
