Carlisle conitnues to pump out some of the best Zinfandels. Period. That they cost under $50 is even better. Purple in color. The nose is great with black raspberries, slight bramble, char and black cherries. On the palate, the texture is wonderful; lush yet precise. Lots of black rasberry and boysenberry fruit. Depth. Needs spicy or big foods. Long finish. Just a delicious wine.
Another winner from Carlisle. I am sure these will age nicely, but I just can't keep my hands off of them young. Ruby/purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great with black cherries, spice, blueberries, and cedar. Full bodied. Lovely, almost lush texture. Good acidity. Light tannins. On the palate, black cherries, black raspberries, with slight char underneath. Long finish. Just delicious. This is great on its own and will drink well for another ten years. Always a consistently top Zinfandel. Purple in color with a thin ruby rim. The nose is nice with black cherries, raspberries, slight bramble, and char. Full bodied. The fruit seems a bit darker on the palate. Black raspberries with some plums. Delicious. Tight but unwinds in the glass. Long finish. This seems like it still needs a bit more time, even for those who like their Zins big and fruit forward. Maybe another three to five years and it should drink well for seven to ten after that.
