This is an inexpensive (around $6) Chardonnay. Light golden in color. The nose has some lemons and oak. On the palate, this is simple but drinkable. A bit of citrus. Not much depth. Works as an alcohol delivery system. The key here is that for $6, this is drinkable.
There are lots of reviews for Maybach Cabs on this site, but not as many for other varietals so it was nice to get a chance to enjoy this Chardonnay. At age 5, this is still young, but showing a bit of maturity and very enjoyable. Golden in color with slight green hues, clear and bright. On the nose, this is a big wine. Lots of red apples, some grapefruit, with lots of vanilla and oak and some floral notes. Full bodied. On the palate, this has a great, viscous texture. Tasted side by side with the 2016, this one was much more to my liking. Pale golden with some green swirls. The nose has slight lemons, nice minerality, slight chalk and little oak. On the palate, this is refreshing and clean. Dry. Mostly about the minerality but some lemon. Good finish. I believe this retails for around $20 which is a nice value. Ready to drink now, it should be good for five years. It will drink well on its own but better with sea food or salads.
