Another Carlisle wine, another great wine. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. On the nose, black raspberries, spice, and some vanilla. On the palate, a great lush but juicy texture. Great energy. Flavors of black raspberry, some char and pepper. Long finish. Works well with food or on its own.
This was pop and pour and probably could have used a bit more air. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose is nice with dark cherries, slight bramble, a bit of pepper and iodine. On the palate, this is quite juicy. A bitterness at first which turned more to a sour cherry note. I preferred the later. Nice finish. This is a big wine and while a bit jammy, in no way over the top. A crowd pleaser.
This remains my favorite Carlisle Zinfandel year in and year out. There are lots of reasons, but chief among them is the texture. So rich and lush yet the wine has so much balance and energy. A blend of 96% Zinfandel and 4% Carignan. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with raspberries, black raspberries, slight blueberries, smoke and slight bramble. Medium to full bodied. On the palate, black raspberries, raspberries and slight black cherries with smoke and some dry earthiness. Great acidity. Long finish. Delicious. I love Carlisle Zinfandels. Mike Officer makes a bunch of them, but this is my favorite one. Purple in color. The nose has some bramble, dark cherries and a bit of pepper. What i find I like consistently from vintage to vintage, however, is the texture. It is round, lush, and delicious without being over the top. Black cherries, raspberries, and black licorice. No heat. Each sip makes we want to take another. It is food friendly, but these seem to go down too quickly. Its hard to not gulp. This should age easily for another five years and probably ten or more.
This continues to be my favorite Zinfandel in the Carlisle lineup. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, raspberries, slight black pepper and bramble. Medium bodied. Great, soft, but accessible texture. Balanced. On the palate, this is delicious. Black raspberries, black cherries, slight black pepper and slight char. Good acidity. Long finish. This is delicious on its own and will work nicely with foods off the grill. Drink over the next five to seven years.
