This is a red Chassagne. It drinks very well right now. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose earthy with black cherries. Nice lush texture. Black cherry fruit on the palate. Delicious. Some complexity. Riper fruit than expected. Good finish. This will drink well on its own or with Pinot Noir friendly foods. It probably won't get much better but should be good for another 5 to 7 years at least.
This is a very nice premier cru Burgundy. Garnet in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, slight cinnamon, and spice. Medium bodied. Very light tannins. On the palate, cherries, slight sour cherries with a bit of spice. Nice finish. Drinking well now and should continue for another seven to ten years. Nice on its own but probably better with food. Salmon would be a nice choice.
At or near peak and drinking well. Garnet in color, clear and bright. The nose is great with cherries, slight funk. slight black cherries and spice. Medium bodied. On the palate, bold cherry and some black cherry fruit. Slight forest floor and mushroom underneath. Nice energy and balance. Good finish. This should drink well for another ten to twelve years. Great on its own, this would work well with salmon or a mushroom dish.
This is a still red wine (Pinot Noir) made in the Champagne region of France. Garnet in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with cinnamon, cherries, slight black cherry, and a bit of poblano pepper. Medium bodied. Good acidity. Light tannins. On the palate, this is a slightly watery, slightly bitter note that is unusual in a Pinot but also plenty of cherries and a bit of green pepper. 2015 is a great vintage and I was excited to get a chance to try this one. In Burgundy terms, this is certainly a value. It was selling for under $40. Ruby/purple in color. Very bright. On the nose, sour cherries and slight cranberries. Very nice lush texture. Medium tannins. On the palate, a bit one dimensional at this point. Plenty of sour cherry fruit. This was purchased on release and properly cellared. Overall, the bottle took an hour or so to open up and then was drinking fine. It never took that final step to being a top bottle, but it was outstanding nevertheless. Light ruby in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has a slight earthy funk to it and cherries. On the palate, this has a soft texture. Elegant cherries with light tannins twisted around a bit of damp earthy farmyard. Long finish. This will go well with roasted fowl or braised beef dishes.
