If you are like me, the Amarone's from Dal Forno are quite a stretch economically. The Valpolicellas are much more attractive and truth be told, they are better than most Amarones. At age 18, this is still youthful and doing quite well. Purple in color with slight deeper tones, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great with black cherries, slight raisins, anise and balsamico. Medium bodied. Light tannins. Great balance. On the palate, this has depth and complexity. Flavors of black cherries, black raspberries, raisins and slight balsamic. Long finish. This is drinking well now and should go another ten years maybe twenty. It is nice on its own but better with food. It went well with Pasta with Tomato and (Vegan) sausages.
