Lovely Barolo at a great place. Purple in color with ruby hues, mostly clear and bright. The nose has cherries, tar, slight roses and dust. Medium bodied. Medium to light tannins. Layers of fruit and tertiary notes. Cherries, and forest floor. Nice balance. Long finish. This is nice on its own but really needs food. Pasta with truffles or mushroom in a cream sauce would be great. It is at peak but there should be another 5 to ten more years of peak drinking.

Bought on release and cellared. This was decanted for about 45 minutes prior to serving. Purple in color (darker than expected), mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries, dust and tar. Full bodied with firm tannins. On the palate, this is still drinking young. Vibrant fruit. It s deep but a bit monolithic at age 19. Black cherries with a "chalkiness". Also some anise on the finish. It is delicious and went great with pasta. Drink over the next twelve years.

This is really drinking quite well right now. I had been told it might be past prime, but this bottle, bought on release and well cellared was about as good as one could expect. Ruby in color. Very pretty nose of cherries, tar, and slight roses. On the palate, this has layers of fruit, dried fruit and earthy forest floor. Great acidity. Nice finish. Worked perfectly at the dinner table. No hurry on this but this is at or close to peak.

Opened and decanted for about an hour or two, this is still showing "modern" and young. That said, once we started drinking it, it evolved beautifully over the next hour. Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great with cherries, licorice, slight menthol and slight dried roses. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, lots of fresh cherry fruit with slight underlying tar and dried floral notes. Great acidity. Nice finish. This is delicious. Based on this bottle, another seven to ten years until peak. This may end up easily doing fifty years. Back

Purple in color. The nose is clean with black cherry fruit. Dusty. On the palate, black cherries with some dark chocolate. Very modern in style. Delicious. Light tannins. I think this is about as good as it gets but no hurry. It should have ten to twelve years at peak drinking. This will go well with pasta in mushroom or cream sauce.

This bottle was decanted for sediment about an hour prior to serving. This bottle was fresher than one opened about a year ago. It was purchased around 2009, and it is not clear if this is an original bottling or not. Light ruby in color, some browning, clear and bright. The nose is nice with cherries, tar and slight smoke. Perhaps a slight but of forest floor. Complex and deep with layers or some fruit but mostly tertiary notes. Cherries, slight gravel, forest floor and slight char. Good finish.
