I tasted this wine 9 years ago and scored it a 99. Well, it has improved since then. Purple in color with just a touch of browning. The nose is complex and deep. The kind of nose one could keep going back to all night long. Aromas of plums, raspberries, black raspberries, leather, violets, dried floral notes and a damp earthiness. With air, spice notes come out as well. Full bodied. Tannins mostly resolved. Great balance. On the palate, this is complex and layered. It unwinds easily in the glass. Flavors of black raspberries, raspberries, plums, spice and earthiness. Long finish. A contemplative wine but this will go well with many foods. Daube Provencal (Beef Stew) would be a classic match. At age 25 this is certainly at peak but probably has another four to eight years left at this level.
