Any chance to taste a "Red Label" Giacosa is fantastic.  Decanted for sediment about an hour or so before serving.  These wines have gotten prohibitively priced and are scarce at that.  Ruby in color with some bricking at the edges, clear and bright.  Medium to full bodied.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, this is delicious.  Some complexity although a bit less than expected.  Layers of cherries, raspberries, forest floor and slight tar.  Great acidity.  Long finish.  This is at peak now but should be here for another ten years.  Great on its own but better with food.  It would be nice with Osso Bucco.
