This was opened and decanted for sediment about an hour prior to serving.  Great showing.  Garnet/Brown in color, mostly clear and starting to show some age.  The nose is perfumed with cherries, raspberries, dust, slight tar and slight dried floral notes.  Medium bodied.  Light tannins.  On the palate, this is layered, deep and complex.  A contemplative wine.  Layers of cherries, dried cherries, dried earth, char and spice.  Long finish.  This is nice on its own but better with a bit of food.  It begs out for truffles or mushrooms but worked well with cheeses.  At peak now but should drink well for another decade before starting a slow, downward slide.
