At age 30, this is classic Right Bank Bordeaux from a great vintage.  It is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot.  Purple in color with a ruby rim, opaque and bright.  The nose is complex (and great) with cassis, cigar box, black cherries, fresh tobacco, and spice.  Full bodied.  Tannins mostly resolved but some still present.  Soft texture.  On the palate, this is complex with flavors of cassis, black cherries, tobacco, spice and slight char.  The layers unwind in the glass.  Long finish.  This seems to be at peak but should be here for a while.  Drink over the next ten years.  It is lovely on its own and contemplative but still better with food.  A slow cooked beef stew would be perfect such as Beef Daube.
