Some of the most interesting, and affordable, wines on the market currently are coming out of Argentina, a seriously under appreciated region. This 2019 chardonnay offers soft and subtle lemon lime, white peach, Asian pear, apricot, soft notes of honeysuckle, caramel and crepe brulee. Whispering in the background is light resin and amber. It is both rich, and lean at the same time having gone through a partial malolactic fermentation (30%) and aged on the lees for six months. This allows it to pair with a diversity of foods, while retaining its South American roots, meaning it is meant to be with food and not as a cocktail wine.
