This is 45% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Meunier. A nice Champagne for the money. Light golden in color. A nice mousse of smaller bubbles. The nose has toast, yeast and a bit of lemons. On the palate, those flavors come thru. This needs some food as there is a bit of acidity here. Refreshing. Drink within the first few years of release.
This is a still red wine (Pinot Noir) made in the Champagne region of France. Garnet in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with cinnamon, cherries, slight black cherry, and a bit of poblano pepper. Medium bodied. Good acidity. Light tannins. On the palate, this is a slightly watery, slightly bitter note that is unusual in a Pinot but also plenty of cherries and a bit of green pepper. Always nice to have some Champagne at a dinner or party. This is a reasonably priced bottle that drinks nicely. 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier. Light silvery gold in color. A nice mousse with a fair amount of smallish bubbles. The nose has hay, ginger and slight toast. On the palate, this is reasonably crisp. More mineral driven than fruit but some citrus. Good acidity. Nice finish. Very enjoyable and will go with most any food. These should be purchased fresh and drunk in the first couple of years.
This is 100% Pinot Noir from an excellent producer if a bit under the radar. Light golden in color, with a nice mousse of fine bubbles. The nose has slate, chalk, apples and Meyer lemons. Medium bodied with moderate acidity. On the palate, the Meyer lemons come thru along with some chalk. Very tasty. Good finish. This is drinking very well now and should continue over the next five to eight years. It is nice on its own and will work well with almost any food.
This ubiquitous Champagne seems to be everywhere and sometimes, that means it can be easy to look past it (for wine geeks anyway). It is quite good. This is actually a special bottling to celebrate their 150th anniversary of their founding in 1869. It is a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (30% to 40%) and the rest Chardonnay. This is a blend of 32% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay, 32% Meunier, and 4% Petit Meslier, Arbanne, and pinot Blanc according to the label. Of course, Zero Brut nature is an indication that this is the driest level of Champagne and has no added sugar prior to bottling. Light golden in color with a frothy mousse of tiny bubbles. Clear and bright. The nose is great with spice, ginger, slight golden delicious apples and a hint of lemon peel. Great acidity. Dry. On the palate, lemon peel with minerality and a touch of toast. Long finish. Very impressive.
