Opened by a friend to celebrate another friends birthday. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Light golden in color. A nice head with lots of smallish bubbles. The nose is nice with burnt hay and slight citrus. On the palate, there is some citrus and minerals. Long finish. Good acidity. This is very food friendly and will work with a wide variety of foods.
This ubiquitous Champagne seems to be everywhere and sometimes, that means it can be easy to look past it (for wine geeks anyway). It is quite good. This is actually a special bottling to celebrate their 150th anniversary of their founding in 1869. It is a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (30% to 40%) and the rest Chardonnay. Golden in color with a bit of copper. The nose is nice with toast, apple and slight ginger. On the palate, this has nice full carbonation. Good acidity. Slight tannins. Pears and apples. Long finish. Always nice to have some Champagne at a dinner or party. This is a reasonably priced bottle that drinks nicely. 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier. Light silvery gold in color. A nice mousse with a fair amount of smallish bubbles. The nose has hay, ginger and slight toast. On the palate, this is reasonably crisp. More mineral driven than fruit but some citrus. Good acidity. Nice finish. Very enjoyable and will go with most any food. These should be purchased fresh and drunk in the first couple of years.
First time trying the producer. A very nice reasonably priced Champagne. It is a blend of 50% Pinot Meunier, 25% Pinot Noir, and 25% Chardonnay. Apparently the last few generations of the family were all Hot Air Balloon enthusiasts so the label features a hot air balloon. Light golden in color, clear and bright with a fair amount of smallish bubbles. The nose is nice; toasty with some green apples and a bit of ginger. On the palate, the toastiness comes thru along a nice minerality and some lemons. Good acidity. Nice finish. This makes for a very pleasant start to an evening. It
Opened for my birthday dinner. This is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. It has a deep amber color although clear and bright. A good amount of small-ish bubbles. On the nose this has some strawberries, slight hay, dried floral notes and a slightly nutty quality. On the palate, the strawberries come thru with some light cherries. There is a touch of oxidation here. Nice acidity. It worked better with a bit of food. This is probably not a long term ager and should be drink in the next few years. Wen well with some Shihito peppers.
