For a little over a decade, Davis Estates has quietly been producing significant wines. Made from one hundred-per cent Cabernet Sauvignon, the tannins on this 2023 are noticeable on the first sip, which signifies this is a Cabernet made in an old-school style that presents tannic structure to support the fruit and the oak. The flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and boysenberry are definitely at the forefront of this, but they are balanced by a light treatment of oak that pulls the fruit to a restrained position. There are also notes of blackcurrant, subtle vanilla, a light dusting of cocoa powder, and a hint of violet flowers. Aged for just 22 months in French oak barrels, half of which were new, this is a wine that feels graceful and a pleasure to drink while still showing some girth and maturity. 1,190 cases. ORIGIN: Napa Valley. ALCOHOL: 14.9%
