The basic Syrah from Jaffurs continues to be a terrific value in Red Wine. It does contain small amounts of Petite Sirah, Grenache and Mourvedre as well. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is deep with black raspberries, roasted meats and herbs, black pepper and slight floral notes (violets?). Full bodied. Great acidity. Medium tannins. On the palate, this is delicious and open. Flavors of black raspberries, black pepper, slight herbal notes and char. Long finish. This is drinking well and may still improve a bit. Drink for the next eight to ten years. It is great on its own and a really good match for Curry flavors.
