This is made from the Saperavi grape in the country of Georgia.  Purple/ruby in color, slightly opaque  and bright.  The nose is earthy with a slight barnyard note that blew off quickly.  Lots of black cherry fruit and some cherries.  Medium to full bodied.  Good acidity.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, this  is cleaner with black cherries and cherries and a slight dry clay note.  Long finish.  Saperavi is a grape with a long past but also a promising future.  This is nice on its own but better with food.  It would be a great match with a Philly Cheesesteak but if that is too much a culture clash, how about Haloumi with grilled Lamb?  These seem to age reasonably well but should be drunk in seven to ten years.  I don't think this was made in Qvevri (Amphorae).
