This is made from the Saperavi grape in the country of Georgia. The wine is aged for six months in clay Kvevri (Amphorae) which is a traditional way of making wine in Georgia that goes back 6,000 years. Deep garnet in color, purple at the core. The nose is tight at first but opens to show a clean wine with aromas of black raspberries and clay. Medium bodied. Medium tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, plums, black cherries and slight black olive notes. Good finish. This is a nice wine on its own but is better with food. It would work well with BBQ pulled Beef or other rich meaty dishes.
