2021 Tenuta Argentiera Bolgheri Villa Donoratico, Italy, Tuscany, Wine Review

This is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot from Tuscany. Purple in color with some garnet swirls, mostly opaque and bright. Great nose with cassis, black cherries, graphite and clay. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, flavors of cassis, clay and a bit of chocolate. Long finish. This is drinking well now and should have another eight to twelve years left. Nice on its own, this would be a nice match with Spaghetti Bolognaise.

This is a Bordeaux blend from Tuscany. It is comprised of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petite Verdot. Purple in color with ruby swirls, Mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, cherries, mike chocolate, spice and tobacco. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, cassis, cherries, fresh cut oak, chocolate and a bit of funk. Long finish. This is a great "Bordeaux" styled wine (you can also call it a Super Tuscan) for the money. It is drinking well now but may still improve with some cellaring. Drink over the next ten years. This is one of the great wines of the world. This is a Bordeaux blend made in Tuscany. 2015 was an excellent if quite ripe vintage. All of that ends with a wine that is no where close to being ready to drink. It doesn't matter how young you like your wines, this needs time. If I had to drink a bottle now, i would decant it for a week. It is tight, brooding and a monster. That said, it will eventually be a tremendous wine. Purple in color. Always an outstanding wine and a great value and that is true in this challenging vintage. It is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose is great with black currants, black cherries, slight chocolate and char. Medium to full bodied. A nice streak of acidity keeps it lively. Ordered off the wine list at Eduardo's in Chicago (Gold Coast) for $80. A nice find except that it was so young, it really should have been decanted. It is a blend of 56% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Petit Verdot. Deep ruby in color with some purple hues, mostly clear and bright. The nose is nice with black cherries, cherries, tobacco, spice and char. Full bodied. Light to medium tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, there is some varietal complexity but this is very tight. It never fully opened as the bottle was drained. That said, it was enjoyable

This is a Bordeaux blend Super Tuscan wine from one of the top producers in Tuscany. It is one of their less expensive offerings and is always an outstanding wine. This wine is surprisingly open and drinking well already considering that 2015 is an outstanding vintage in Tuscany. Purple in color with ruby swirls. The nose has cassis, black cherries, slight tobacco and spice. On the palate, this has a nice juiciness to it. Black cherry fruit dominates at this point with some underlying tobacco/earth. Light tannins. Nice finish. This might still improve but either way should be good
