Riverain is another winery utilizing the skills of Thomas Rivers Brown as winemaker.  This utilizes fruit from the Tench vineyard which has given us many great wines both from Tench and also Bevan, so it is no surprise that this wine is another winner.  What is "nice' is that the price tag on this bottle is not utterly crazy.  Inky purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright.  The nose is great with cassis, dark chocolate, charred earth, spice and slight new leather.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  This is till on the young side but with a couple of hours of air, it showed beautifully.  Great texture.  flavors of cassis, slight blueberries, slight black cherries, dark chocolate, and a slight moist earthiness.  Long finish.  Delicious.  This should be cellared for a few more years and then it should drink well for twelve to fifteen years.  It is great on its own and will need big fatty foods for now.  Red Peppers stuffed with rice would be a nice match.  With good cellaring the score should raise by a couple points or more.
