Consumed off the wine list at Wellen Spiel in Krems Austria. Light green gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with white pepper, slight lime and some minerality. Light bodied. Lighter acidity. On the palate, there is some white pepper and slight limes. Solid finish. This works much better with some food. It worked well with vegetarian foods off the menu. Drink over the next few years.
This seemed to have some trapped CO2 in it, but that quickly blew off. Green/gold in color. The nose is interesting. A friend suggested strawberries and that worked. For me, it was more like dried flowers and fresh hay if that makes sense. It was nice though. On the palate, this is more about tart red apples. a bit clipped on the finish, but otherwise, quite nice. Would work with a wide variety of food. It will probably come together a bit over the next year and be good for at least five to seven after that.
Drank this at Heuriger Hamböck in Krems, Austria. 11.5% abv. This is considered a dry, "young wine". Young wine refers to the latest wines made which have a special legal status in Austria and are allowed to be sold at Heurigers. Green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has peach with slight white pepper. Light tannins. On the palate, minerals with some lemons especially on the finish. Clean. This is easy drinking and refreshing. Drink over the next couple of years. It works well with lighter foods such as cheeses and cold cuts.
This is from Austria. Screw capped. Upon pouring, this is noticeably spritzy/frothy. A friend who brought the bottles back from Austria said a bottle consumed last summer was not spritzy. It would appear that this is a separate bottling and best guess, they gave it a shot of CO2 right before bottling. There is a popular drink in Austria made from Gruner Veltliner and Selzer which is essentially a Gruner Spritzer. Perhaps, this is the wineries take on that. This is sourced from various terraced vineyards and younger vines. Screw capped. Green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is expressive. Tangerine peel, peaches with a slight minerality. Medium bodied. Lively acidity. On the palate, green apples, lemons, and minerals. Lots of energy. This is fresh and easy to drink but has some depth, too. It is refreshing on its own but will work with goat chees and roasted beet salad. Drink over the next four to six years.
Bought off the list a Heuriger Zimmerman in Vienna, Austria. Light golden in color with some green hues, clear and bright. The nose is great with limes, white pepper and minerality. medium bodied. Good acidity. On the palate, limes and green apples with a bit of salinity. Lively. Nice finish. This is delicious and drinks easily with a wider variety of foods. It would be great with Schnitzel. Drink over the next five to eight years.
