This is a very interesting blend of 31% Sangiovese, 20% Syrah, 18% Barbera, 17% Teroldego, and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon from California. It is one of the best Italian varietals wines from California that I have tried (or mostly Italian varietals). Purple/ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is dusty with cherries, black cherries, black raspberries, dry tea leaves, and spice. Deep. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great acidity. On the palate, this is complex and delicious. Flavors of black raspberries, black cherries, cocoa, dust, and char. Long finish. This is great on its own but would be better with food. It would go well with hearty Italian food such as Osso Bucco or Pasta Bolognese. Drink over the next seven to ten years.
