This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Tench Vineyard.  This is the same vineyard that Russell Bevan makes so many great Cabs from so it was no surprise that this was my favorite of the Fairchild wines that I tried.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is tight but with some swirling it shows sandalwood, cassis, floral notes, and spice.  Plush but slick texture.  Very tannic.  Great energy and balance.  On the palate, this is delicious.  Cassis, slight dark chocolate and an interesting cola note.  This needs time to calm down and come together.  I suspect that is more an element of Philippe Melka's (the wine maker) style than the vineyard.  It drinks great on its own and for now, would need big flavors to stand up to it.  With good cellaring, there is no doubt this garners and 100 point score.  Hold for five to ten years and drink for twenty to thirty after that.
