One of our favorite Rhone varietal producers from California now makes a white blend, too. It is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 26% Roussanne, 19% Marsanne and 15% Viognier. Golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is expressive with red apples, slight peach, char, slight sulfur and spice. Full bodied. Nice, slightly "waxy" texture. Round but good acidity as well. Light tannins. On the palate. flavors of apples, slight papaya, char and peach. Long finish. A fascinating white wine. It drinks great on its own but will need big food for a few years. It would work well with big flavors like ginger or garlic and would certainly hold up to a steak. Indian food should work well, too. Drink over the next ten to twelve years. The score should go up a few points as it settles down a bit.
