2020 Gonzalez-Byass Ribera del Duero Dominio Fournier, Spain, Wine Review

This is Tinta del Pais (a.k.a. Tempranillo) from Spain.  Although the label does not state, this is a Crianza wine meaning that it was raised in barrels for a year.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is very nice with big aromas of cherries, black cherries, black olives and slight spice.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Good balance.  On the palate, this seems ripe with a perception of sweetness just sort of lingering.  it is delicious with flavors of black cherries, cherries, char and slight earthiness.  Long  finish.  This is very nice on its own but better with the right food.  It will work well with heavier foods and worked nicely with Roasted Butternut Squash.  Drink over the next five to eight years.
