Deep ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has black cherries, bramble and black pepper. Medium bodied. Moderate acidity. On the palate, this is upfront with good black cherry fruit. Some depth. Good finish. Tasty. Drinking well now and should for another five to eight years. A nice wine with pizza.
So, I am in Chicago on vacation and stop by a local wine store. This is on sale and having never tried it, bought a bottle. Good move as this is a really nice Zin. While it seems like it will age and get more claret like, it was delicious and accessible now. Deep ruby in color. The nose has black cherries, some bramble, a bit of dark chocolate and cherries. On the palate, this has a nice texture.
This is more of a "claret" styled Zinfandel than a big brawny styled Zin. Purple in color with some ruby swirls. The nose has dust, black cherries and slight tobacco. On the palate, this has some depth. Juicy black cherry fruit intertwined with a bit of damp earth. Nice finish. This would be great with Indian food. Drink over the next five years, but it might surprise and last (a lot) longer.
This project of Joel Petterson has been at it for a while now and the wines are getting a certain style to them which is very nice. That is, robust, but just barely (for Zin). This wine is 80% Zinfandel with the rest Alicante and old-vine Carignan. Purple in color with ruby swirls. Mostly clear and bright. The nose has black cherries, raspberries, roasted herbs (sage?), and dust. Medium bodied with light tannins. On the palate, this is delicious. It drinks easy. Wow. It has been a while since I have tried any of the single vineyard wines from Ravenswood. This is great! Really glad to revisit these. Made in Dry Creek Valley on gravelly clay loam soils. 15.1% Alc but no hint of it. Ruby/purple in color. Clear and bright. The nose is earthy and dusty with black cherries and a bit of pepper. With air, an underlying char shows thru. On the palate, this is soft and smooth. It starts easy which is nice before picking up weight. Sour black cherries and some blueberries. The mid-palate has some black licorice too. Plenty of depth here. Medium
