Jaffurs produces many different single vineyard Syrahs. Each year, they choose the best barrels for a special blend they call Upslope. This also contains 2% Viognier. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is deep with black raspberries, roasted meats, black pepper, slight lavender note and spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Nice balance. On the palate, this is young but tasty. Flavors of black raspberries, blueberries, black pepper and char. Long finish. Some complexity. This will likely develop more complexity as it develops but is delicious today. Hold for another five years and drink for ten to fifteen after that. It will work with many hearty foods. A nice choice with Indian food.
