Although more know as a Rhone varietal producer, Russell From, the owner winemaker at Herman Story makes an outstanding Cabernet as well. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose is deep with cassis, leather, slight dark chocolate, char, spice and slight black cherries. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great energy and balance. On the palate, this is still youthful with flavors of cassis, black cherries, slight blueberries, minerality, char and a hint of spices. Long finish. This is drinking well today but should improve with good cellaring. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years. It is very nice on its own and will work with bigger foods. Sure, a steak or Prime Rib but it would go very well with Roasted Root vegetables or a stufed Acorn Squash.
