Inky purple, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose deep. Cassis, graphite, leather, cedar and spice. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great balance. On the palate, this complex and delicious. Flavors of cassis, some black cherries, graphite, spice and char. Long finish. This is drinking well now but will improve. Drink over the next twenty years. Great on its own, this will work well with meat or fowl or roasted veggies.
Myriad's wines are starting to really get noticed which is great for them, but less so for people trying to afford them. That said, there is no question they are on a par with the best wines in Napa, which is to day the world. This one is inky purple, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The 2013 Napa Cabs were released with a lot of fanfare, and justifiably so. It seemed, however, that they shut down very quickly and hard. Now, at age 7, they are starting to open back up and while, as a general rule they have lots left, many are drinking quite well. I don't remember a Napa Cab vintage that shut down so hard so quickly and reopened so quickly as well. In any event, this was opened and allowed to breath for 30 minutes and then served. Mike Smith is the winemaker here and produces some of the top wines in the world. This is an interesting vintage. Initially, it looked like it would be amazing, but many of the wines seemed to get almost to that point and just stopped. Still outstanding, but not quite the overall quality of say 2013 or 2014.
