Light green/gold in color. The nose is floral with white peaches and a sort of pastel candied quality to it. On the palate, this has a nice oily texture. some peaches. Clean. Easy drinking. Nice finish. Not sure how this ages or even if it is. Rhone whites are hard to predict and this is an entry level wine. I preferred this to the Marsanne though both are good values.
Brézème actually sits between the Northern and Southern Rhone Appellations and is the only Cotes-du-Rhone appellation with its own AOC. This is their white coming from a biodynamically farmed vineyard. The wine is made in a natural way with little sulfur and from vines planted in 2009. Golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is interesting as it shows a persistent vanilla streak. I don't think the wine sees any oak as it aged on its lees in concrete. This is a Marsanne/Roussanne blend from the northern Rhone were less than 10% of production is in white grapes. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is all about minerality with a slight waxy/apple note as well. Medium bodied.
Where to start? This is one of the great white wines of the world. Such a fascinating and contemplative wine. Made from a field blend of 80/20 Marsanne and Roussane. i was a bit aprhensive about this as Hermitage Blanc at age 6 can often be shut down. Light/medium gold. This showed quite well though. The nose is waxy with some honey and slight white floral notes. With air, almonds and slight tangerine notes. Fascinating. Slightly oily texture. Full bodied. Great minerality. On a cold winter Sunday, after making a pot of Lentil Soup, this was opened and it was a perfect match. St. Joseph Blancs are not all that common but this one is worth searching out (so are this producer's reds)! Light golden in color. The nose is nice with a bit of wax, but nice peach and slight tropical fruit. Very clean. On the palate, this comes across with a lot of acidity until the finish where it get's really turned up. Nice creamy texture. Some peach and slight bees wax. Depth For around $25, this was a great match.
