My second time trying this wine. Same overall impressions. It is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo. Almost black in color, more ruby towards the rim. The nose has black cherries, black raspberries and the burnt rubber smell. Medium bodied if not a bit thinner. On the palate, this is a nice quaff. Nice black cherry fruit. Easy drinking. No idea on what the pricing will be.
This is apparently a new wine from No Girls that was sent free to those members on the Mailing List. A Zoom tasting was held for people to try it although a friend brought this bottle to a separate event. Pop and pour. It is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo. Almost black in color, more ruby towards the rim. The nose has that burnt rubber smell so prevalent in many Washington Syrahs. Also, some slight barnyard, black raspberries and black cherries. Medium bodied if not a bit thinner. On the palate, this is a nice quaff. Somewhat one dimensional with nice black cherry fruit
From the folks at Cayuse. Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is nice with black cherries, strawberries, slight earthiness and a hint of floral notes. Medium bodied. On the palate, the black cherry and strawberries come thru big time. A slight dry earthiness underneath. This is ripe but not over done. Good finish. This could use a few years to develop more and should drink well for eight to ten after that. Nice on its own, with age it will work well with roasted fowl.
Wine is subjective and this wine got some huge reviews from major critics. I can't get quite that far. This is a good wine though. 100% Grenache from Powerline Vineyard. Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose is cherry cough syrup but in a good way. Not over the top. Also some smoke and a bit of leather. On the palate, the cherry cough syrup predominates. That is to say, thick, slightly sweet, with alcohol. There is some underlying char. Warm on the finish. One glass goes a long way and this would work by the fire on a cold night. It might be a difficult food match. YMMV.
This is from a can although it appears they also sell this in bottles. It is a blend of Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Grenache. It has a reasonably deep pink/ruby color. The nose has cherries and raspberries. On the palate, this is easy drinking and refreshing. Flavors of cherries and strawberries. No tannins. Ready to drink now. Worked well with salty fried food but should go with a wide variety of foods. The trend of wine cans is catching on. For wines that are made for now, this is a convenient, non-breakable alternative. I hope more wineries go this route.
