This winery makes some of the best values in France. They tend to make big, fruity wines more akin to California than France. In fact, blind, I thought this was Santa Barbara Grenache. It is actually a blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 8% Mourvedre and 2% Carignan. Purple in color with some garnet swirls, opaque and bright. The nose is intense with black cherries, black raspberries, roasted herbs, black pepper and slight roasted meats. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Lush texture. On the palate, this is delicious. Velvety fruit flavors of black cherries, black raspberries, and cherries along with char and black pepper. Long finish. Drink over the next five to ten years. Great on its own, this will work well with meats or veggies off the grill.
