This is a blend of 57% Syrah, 28% Grenache, 11% Carignan, 3% Cinsault and 1% Mourvedre from the south of France. Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great and deep. Notes of black raspberries, some black cherries along with a touch of white pepper, slight roasted herbs and salinity. Full bodied. Lovely semi-plush texture that is almost seamless. Nice energy and balance. Medium tannins. On the palate, this is serious. Flavors of black raspberries and black cherries along with some spice and slight char. Long finish. This is young but should still get better as it ages. It drinks well on its own and will work well with many foods (not seafood). It worked well with a grilled Zucchini and cheese dish but would be nice with roasted chicken, too. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.
