This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain. Sadly, the co-owner and winemaker passed away in a car accident in April of 2016, so he did not make this wine and while this vintage is good, it is not as good as the prior vintages. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, leather, spice and earthiness. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, flavors of cassis with earthiness and char. Good finish. This seems not quite at peak but close. Give it an hour of air prior to serving. Drink over the next five to eight years. It will work well with meats of chicken (or veggies) off the grill.
