This has really improved (and it was great back then) since tasted about two years ago. This bottle was decanted for six hours prior to serving. Inky purple in color, slight ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cassis, black cherries, slight clay, spice and char. Very nice creamy texture. Medium to firm tannins. Great acidity. On the palate, flavors of cassis, blueberries, char, iodine and iron. Long finish. This is deep, concentrated and complex. It appears to be just hitting its prime drinking window (with a long decant). Delicious. It is great on its own and will go well with many foods. It would work well with a standing Rib Roast. Drink over the next fifteen to twenty years.
