Silvery green/gold in color. The nose has minerals and wax with slight tropical fruit. On the palate, this is soft with low acidity but still quite refreshing. The Semillon seems to dominate at this point. Blind, it drinks like a ripe white Bordeaux. Peaches and minerals with some waxiness. Should work with a lot of foods. It will be interesting to see how this improves, if at all, with some age.
This is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (44%), Chardonnay (41%), Malvasia (10%), and Pinot Gris(5%). The name comes from a proprietary clone of Sauvignon Blanc that Flora Springs utilizes in the Crossroads vineyard. It is an interesting white that really needs some air when opening. Silvery/green in color with pale yellow/gold. On opening the oak is dominant and that did not work well. Of course, this is just being released and that will cure itself. Oberon is a project by the Michael Mondavi family making quality wines from California. The winemaker is long time industry veteran Tony Coltrin. This is a reasonably priced Sauvignon Blanc that tries to forge its own identity from a grape that can be very distinctive depending on where it was grown and made. It is light green in color with a bit of silvery/gold hues. Clear and bright. The nose has a nice minerality, slight tropical fruit and even slighter grassiness. Slightly oily texture. Good balance. On the palate, the minerality dominates.
Made with Estate grown fruit. Light green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with limes, green apples and a touch of lemon. Medium bodied. Nicely balanced. Refreshing. On the palate, limes are the forefront with a touch of lemons on the finish. This is easy drinking but has some substance. It drinks well on its own and will work well with lighter foods. A nice summer lunch wine. Drink over the next couple of years although it is a bit past prime already.
Perfect on a hot day. Light golden in color. The nose is great. Fresh with slight tropical fruit, melons, a bit of grass and minerals. Really clean. On the palate, the melons and minerals carry thru. Also a tart note that is interesting. Nice texture. Good acidity. Long finish. Food friendly. This is the kind of wine that is (too) easy to drink an entire bottle of. Refreshing but also with some depth. Fairly priced at $35.
