Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose is huge with cassis, cedar, dark chocolate, black pepper and char. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Well balanced. On the palate, this is showing very young for an 11 year old wine. Flavors of cassis, chocolate, slight clay and char. Delicious. Long finish. Ideally give this more cellar time (maybe five or ten years) but no real harm opening now. Give it some air though. This should drink well for another thirty years. It is great on its own and will need big food to match for now. Prime Rib would be a great choice.
