This is a traditionally styled BdM. Wonderful vintage. Garnet in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, tea leaves, sandalwood, and spice. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. Excellent acidity. On the palate, this is lively. Flavors of cherries, spice, forest floor and slight earthiness. Long finish. This is nice on its own but really needs food to shine. A plate of your favorite pasta would be great. Drink over the next eight to twelve years.
Ruby in color with some browning, mostly clear and bright. Great nose with cherries, sandalwood, and tea leaves. Medium to full bodied. Great balance and acidity. Nice "slick" texture. Medium tannins. On the palate, flavors of black cherries with an interesting cola note and some earthiness. Long finish. This needs another five years in a good cellar to really take that next step, but patience will be rewarded. The score should jump one to three points. Great on its own but better with food. Osso Bucco would be a great food pairing.
This was my first time trying this wine and at least in this great vintage, this wine is outstanding. Deep ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with cherries, forest floor/tea leaves, char and spice. Full bodied. The fruit is ripe but certainly not over done. Flavors of cherries, char over an earthy/forest floor note. Great acidity. Nice finish. The wine is still young and should continue to mature for another five to seven years and then will drink well for 10 more after that. This is drinking well if still not yet at peak. A nice, more modern styled BdM. Purple in color. The nose has black cherries, dust and tea leaves. On the palate, this has light tannins. Black cherry fruit over a forest floor. Good acidity. Depth and tight layers. Nice finish. Give this wine another 4 to six years and it should be closing in on peak. It should be good for ten to fifteen years after that. It will work with a wide variety of foods from pasta to fowl and roasts.
