Seems like a pretty modern take on Rioja. Ruby in color. The nose has cherries, slight dust, and a bit of black cherries. On the palate, this is drinking well. Cherries, black cherries with medium tannins. Nice finish. Easy drinking but also a bit of depth. This will please with or without food. This retails for around $20 which is a great value.
Another classic Rioja albeit a slightly more modern style. This is a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha. Ruby in color with a purple core, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great with cherries, cedar, black cherries, forest floor, dust and chocolate. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Great balance. On the palate, this is delicious. Black cherries, tobacco and spice with some underlying char. Some chocolate comes out on the long finish. This is still young but already great. A couple more years in the cellar will be rewarded but this is fantastic drinking now. Drink over th
This is a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, 10% Graciano, and 5% Manuelo from Spain. It is a modern, delicious take on Rioja. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose has black raspberries, black cherries, espresso, and baking spices. Full bodied. Very nice texture. It has lots of black raspberries, some black cherries with underlying spice. There is some warmth to it. Drinking great now, it should drink well for another decade. This drinks great on its own and will work great with heavier meat dishes. Think steak or brisket.
This is a blend of 90% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, and 5% Mazuelo from Rioja in Spain. Purple in color with ruby swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cherries, vanilla, spice, and tea leaves. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Good balance. On the palate, cherries, slight charred cherries, spice and forest floor notes. Some complexity and depth. This shows some maturity but there is room for further development. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years. This is 100% Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain. It is very traditional in style. It opened quickly before shutting down and was just starting to reopen when my glass was empty. Purple in color with ruby swirls, mostly clear and bright. The nose has cherries, spice, slight vanilla and slighter anise. Medium bodied. Medium tannins. The cherries and anise come thru to the palate with a slight balsamic note. Good balance. Nice finish. Nice on its own but better with some food. A nice match for meatloaf with a tomato based sauce. Drink over the next five to eight years.
Ruby in color with slight browning. The nose has spice, clay and cherries. It also has a ton of dill which was off putting to some. The dill does carry thru to the palate, so be warned if that is a sensitivity. Others liked it. Firm tannins. Nice black cherry fruit. Good balance. Works better with food than alone. Pretty classic Rioja in style.
