Light golden in color. Nice mousse with lots of small bubbles. The nose is nice almonds, slightly yeasty, and some ginger. This is spry and a bit shy at first. Ginger and slightly chalky. Good acidity. Works well with food. Some complexity. Good finish. Not a big wine but certainly persistent. Good value for Champagne.
This is the top "Luxury Cuvee" from this Champagne house. They nailed it in 2008 and while it might not be quite at the levels of some of the top Champagnes, it isn't priced like they are either. Another great showing for this wine. Silvery gold in color, clear and bright with a nice mousse of lots of tiny bubbles. The nose has smoke, minerals and light chalk. Full bodied with excellent acidity. The minerality and chalk carry thru to the palate.
A stellar vintage for this luxury cuvee from one of the older Champagne houses. In a market that has exploded in pricing, this is one of the better values in luxury cuvee's. This vintage is 92% Pinot Noir and 8% Chardonnay. Silvery gold in color, clear and bright with a nice mousse of lots of tiny bubbles. There is some fruit on the nose (pears) but its mostly about minerality/chalk with a bit of smoke. Full bodied but yet lean and racy acidity. The minerality and chalk carry thru to the palate. Always a treat though this is starting to show some age (in a good way). Light golden in color, clear and bright. The mousse isn't as frothy as it had been not as persistent, but still present. It is a blend of 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay. The nose is great with yeast, ginger, slight char, and slight nutty note. Full bodied. On the palate, this is deep and complex. Some apples, ginger, char and nuts especially on the finish. Long finish. Great on its own, this is incredibly versatile with food. It worked well with grilled, spiced radishes.
Consumed on a Celebrity Cruise Ship (Alaska) wine tasting. A blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. Pale golden with some green hues and a steady stream of tiny bobbles. The nose is interesting with toast and limes. Perhaps a slight bit of oxidation. On the palate, this is somewhat demur but had plenty of stuffing. On the palate, more about minerality with slight pear and a bit of chalk. An interesting bitter almond note on the finish. Good acidity. This is drinking maturely but nice right now. Opened for my birthday dinner. This is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. It has a deep amber color although clear and bright. A good amount of small-ish bubbles. On the nose this has some strawberries, slight hay, dried floral notes and a slightly nutty quality. On the palate, the strawberries come thru with some light cherries. There is a touch of oxidation here. Nice acidity. It worked better with a bit of food. This is probably not a long term ager and should be drink in the next few years. Wen well with some Shihito peppers.
