Purple in color. What a lovely nose of cassis, slight cedar, and graphite. On the palate, this is delicious. Young but past its childhood. Ripe but not over ripe. Cassis layered with cedar and slight mineral note. Light tannins at this point. Showing slight tertiary development. Delicious. Nice finish. This will work with bigger foods. It was nice to drink a Scarecrow with a bit of age on it. This has a decade and more left on it.
Drank this side by side with the 2012. The 2012 was better tonight, but the 2016 is the better wine. Hold for at least five years and patience will be rewarded. Of course, if you can't - no worries. It is amazing right now. Inky purple, ruby at the rim. The nose has cassis, cedar, clay, graphite and sandalwood. On the palate this has firm tannins. Tons of cassis with tight layering of charred earth. Great balance. Intense and concentrated. Long finish. This is the "second" label for Scarecrow wine. It is a blend of blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 6% Malbec and 3% Merlot. What a fabulous wine. Inky purple in color. The nose has cassis, black cherries, some tobacco and slight graphite. This is young of course but already delicious. It kept opening all night but even the first sip was delicious. This is the other wine from Scarecrow (second wine doesn't do it justice). It is a blend of 84% Cab Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, and 3% Merlot. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great. It could pass for young left bank. Cassis, plums, chocolate, spice, cigar box and slight graphite. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Great energy. On the palate, this is drinking well. Nice complexity. Flavors of cassis, black cherries, plums, spice, chocolate and char. Still young but starting to evolve. Long finish. This drinks great on its own and would work well with meat
