Ruby/purple in color. The nose has black cherries, spice, black raspberries, violets and bacon. On the palate, this is mature and complex. Layered, it unwinds in the glass. Black cherry fruit, black raspberries, some earthiness and spice. Nice texture. Wispy tannins. Good balance. Long finish. No hurry, but I don't think it improves from here.
This is 80% grenache with 10% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. It is a more traditionally styled CdP. Garnet in color, mostly clear and bright with some purple swirls. The nose has black cherries, cherries, black raspberries, slight floral notes, and spice. Medium bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, this has flavors of black cherries, black raspberries, slight earthiness and spice. This seems about fully mature but should drink well for another five to eight years. Better with food, this worked well with assorted pizzas.
Whoa! Not a wine that shows up often, and its expensive, but this wine is amazing! 15.5% abv.
This is really in a nice place right now. Mature but enough fresh fruit to keep it edgy. Ruby in color, purple at the core. The nose has opened up on this showing black cherries, cherries, and plums along with spice and slight dried floral notes. On the palate, there is plenty of vibrant black cherry fruit. Deep with layers that open up quickly. Good acidity. Nice balance. No hurry but I think a few more years and it starts moving the other direction. Works well with a wide variety of foods. A great example of why cellaring top wines in ripe vintages might be a good strategy.
This is a Rose from southern France. It is a blend of 60% Grenach, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, and 10% Tibouren. Perhaps more than most springs, I am looking forward to staying home and sipping on some Rose as the weather gets nice/warmer. This is light salmon pink/orange in color. Very pale but bright and clear. It has a much bigger nose with nice strawberries, some hay and slight watermelon. On the palate, it has an interesting texture. A bit oily but also creamy. The strawberries really come thru on the palate. Refreshing and tasty. Good balance. Long finish. This drinks great o
